A Day in the Life at a Soul Friend Retreat: Connection, Healing, and Adventure Await

Imagine a place where you don’t have to be anything for anyone but yourself.

Where you’re surrounded by women who see you, hear you, and hold space for you exactly as you are.

Where healing, laughter, and connection happen naturally, sometimes in tears, sometimes in joy, always with love.

This is the heart of a Soul Friend Retreat.

But maybe you’ve been wondering:

“Will I fit in with the group?”

“What if I need alone time?”

“What if this feels too vulnerable?”

“Can I really take this time for myself?”

We understand those feelings because we’ve been there too. That is why we intentionally create experiences that balance connection and spaciousness, fun and reflection, structure and flow. No two days are exactly alike, but each one is filled with moments that leave you feeling nourished, inspired, and transformed.

In this post, we will walk you through a typical day at one of our retreats so you can get a feel for the rhythm, the activities, and the magic that unfolds when women come together with open hearts.

Waking Up to a New Day

Your day begins with the gentle sounds of nature and the salty breeze of the ocean, or perhaps the stillness of the desert depending on the retreat location. Whether you are with us in the serene forests and rocky coastlines of Oregon, the mystical red rocks of Sedona, or our hometown beaches of Florida, there is something deeply grounding about waking up somewhere new.

You might start your morning slowly, sipping tea or coffee while watching the sunrise from the deck, or take a few quiet minutes to journal before the group gathers.

Each retreat home is chosen with care to create a sanctuary-like environment. Our Oregon home, for example, includes a hot tub, sauna, and cold plunge, giving you space to awaken your body and mind before the day begins. These amenities are available throughout the retreat, so whether you crave deep relaxation or a burst of energy, you have what you need at your fingertips.

Gentle Movement and Meditation

Most mornings, we begin together with a grounding practice like gentle vinyasa yoga or guided meditation. This isn’t about performance or perfection. It is about giving your body and spirit a chance to settle into the day.

These sessions are beginner-friendly and designed to meet you exactly where you are. You do not need to be flexible or experienced. You simply need to show up as you are.

Starting the day with intentional movement helps release stress, wake up your body, and bring your focus inward. It sets the tone for a day of presence and connection.

Nourishing Breakfast

After movement, you will enjoy a beautiful breakfast prepared with care. At our retreats, we have private chefs who create meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Food at Soul Friend Retreats is not just about eating. It is about slowing down and connecting. It is about fueling your body while also feeding your soul.

Morning Workshop or Adventure

After breakfast, the group moves into the day’s first activity. Depending on the retreat location, this might be an interactive workshop or an adventure in nature.

For example:

In Oregon, you might explore tide pools and the sweeping vistas of Ecola State Park or take a mindful hike along the coastline.

In Sedona, you could visit sacred red rock sites, practice grounding meditations among ancient rock formations, or take a scenic hike to soak up the energy of the land.

These outings are designed to help you connect with both nature and yourself. There is something incredibly healing about moving your body outdoors, breathing fresh air.

When we aren’t exploring, this time might be spent in a workshop designed to nurture self-discovery. Activities like vision board creation, guided journaling, and mirror work give you tools to reflect, dream, and grow.

Every retreat has its own unique flow, but the goal is always the same: to help you leave behind the noise of daily life so you can hear your own voice again.

Midday Free Time and Optional Add-Ons

After a fulfilling morning, you will have time to rest, reflect, or explore on your own.

Some women curl up with a book, journal, or take a nap. Others soak in the hot tub, detox in the sauna, or try out the cold plunge. This quiet time is just as important as the group activities because it gives you space to integrate what you are experiencing.

For those who want to go deeper, we offer optional add-ons to enhance your retreat experience:

Massages: Relax your body and release tension with a private massage, either in your room or in a quiet, designated space.

Individual sound baths (included): Immerse yourself in a deeply personal sound healing session.

Photography sessions: Our retreat photographer captures your essence in a way that feels fun and empowering.

These extras are completely optional, but many women find they provide a beautiful layer of self-care and growth.

Fireside Chats and Star gazing

Evenings include fireside chats, where we gather around a cozy fire indoors or at the beach to share stories, reflections, and laughter. These moments are informal yet deeply meaningful. They create bonds that often last long after the retreat ends.

Connection and Women’s Circle

At the start and end of all our retreats, we gather for a women’s circle. This is a cornerstone of the Soul Friend Retreat experience. It is a space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment.

You are invited to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, but there is never any pressure to speak. Some women simply sit and listen, absorbing the collective energy and wisdom in the room.

Circles might include guided prompts, reflection exercises, or rituals like intention setting. Many guests describe this as the most powerful part of their retreat because it is so rare to have a safe space where vulnerability is welcomed and celebrated.

Cooking Demo or Creative Workshop

On certain afternoons, we also offer special workshops like a cooking demo, candle-making, or flower arranging. These activities are hands-on, fun, and a chance to tap into your creativity.

They also offer a break from introspection and give you a new skill to take home. These moments are about joy, playfulness, and remembering that healing can be lighthearted too.

Evening Dinner and Reflection

Dinner is often a highlight of the day. After a day of exploration, connection, and growth, the evening meal feels especially grounding.

We often sit together as a group and share what we are learning and feeling. These conversations are organic and heart-opening. They allow you to see yourself reflected in others’ experiences and to recognize the deep bonds forming among the group.

Nighttime Relaxation and Integration

The evenings are spacious and gentle. Some women retreat to their rooms for rest, while others soak in the hot tub beneath the stars, unwind in the sauna, or gather for quiet conversation.

At certain retreats, we offer nighttime meditation sessions. These are optional and always designed to feel supportive rather than overwhelming.

The goal is to end the day feeling peaceful and ready for deep, restorative sleep.

The Soul Friend Difference

While many retreats focus only on yoga, adventure, or luxury, Soul Friend Retreats are centered on connection. Our founders, Kaileen and Kathy, created these retreats after their own personal journeys of loss, grief, and healing. They know how important it is to have a space where you can be fully yourself.

Our retreats are designed to:

  • Create a safe container where vulnerability is honored.

  • Foster genuine friendships that often continue long after the retreat.

  • Offer both structured activities and spacious downtime.

  • Provide access to healing practices and modalities you may not have experienced before.

  • Connect you with nature in meaningful ways.

Women who attend often tell us they arrived feeling unsure, nervous, or even scared — and left feeling lighter, stronger, and surrounded by soul friends.
